Sandy Adams Photography

I have been a photographer since 1998, but the dream inside me started years before that.

Tennessee-born and Memphis-bred, I grew up on a very small farm in Tennessee, but was blessed to have a mama that loved fashion and photography. Likewise, my early childhood can be revisited in the old super 8 movies my mom was always shooting. From almost the time I was born, I was very aware of who Princess Grace of Monaco and Priscilla Presley were. I was especially drawn to all the press photos of them, specifically the black and white images. It would be these images that would influence my photography style later on. I became obsessed with fashion magazines, especially Vogue. Without really knowing why, I scoured the fashion magazines obsessed with every new fashion ad campaign. Now, years later, I turned that obsession into my reality and yours as well. I create magazine-style photo shoots for everyday people just like YOU.

I started photographing people when I lived in Memphis Tennessee and continued my journey in Houston. Since 2000, I have been a volunteer with the American Heart Association – first in Memphis, then in Houston and back in Memphis as of Sept 2020. I started and continued all in part to honor my mom who suffered from heart disease. In 2010, I created and photographed the annual American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Heart Ambassador campaigns (formerly Heart Throbs) and continued this yearly campaign until 2020 when I moved back to Memphis. In 2019, I created the Faces of Heart Disease annual portrait campaign for the Houston Go Red For Women to honor those women impacted by heart disease.

As of 2021, I am now the official photographer for the new yearly initiative, Women of Impact, for the Memphis Go Red For Women campaign.

My mom passed away in 2016 after a 20 year battle with heart disease. She is MY WHY every single day.

I’ve come a long way from that small Tennessee farm and I’m only getting started.
