Outer Space The Last Frontier… Lewis Diamonds & Timepieces Celebrate!

It is not every day that you are within a few feet of real life astronauts!~  Nor is it everyday that you celebrate a man and mission in a last frontier… Those Star Trek guys sure knew how to thrill us but so does Lewis Diamonds & Timepieces!~

Yesterday marked the 50th anniversary of the flight of Aurora 7 and Commander Scott Carpenter….

On May 24, 1962, University of Colorado Boulder alumnus Scott Carpenter lifted off from Earth in NASA’s Aurora 7 space capsule mounted atop a Mercury-Atlas rocket at Cape Canaveral, Fla.  On that historic flight Scott Carpenter was wearing a Breitling Navitimer.   To celebrate this historic anniversary and flight, Breitling launched a new 1,962 piece limited-edition watch and unveiled it officially last night at exactly 6:30 pm at Breitling’s flagship store in New York, Miami boutique and Lewis Diamonds & Timepieces (Lewis store is the only independently owned retailer in the launch).   See the watch below in closeup photos.

At the New York party (which was viewed on a live feed to the Lewis party on large flat screen televisions in store) was US Astronaut Scott Carpenter as well as Houston native Commander Mark Kelly and Russian Cosmonaut Sergey Volkov to name a few.

Active U.S. astronauts present at Lewis Diamonds & Timepieces party were Charlie “Scorch” Hobaugh, Michael Gernhardt, Clayton Anderson, Andrew Feustel and Michael Foreman.  Russian cosmonauts present were Oleg Novitskiy, Evgeny Tarelkin and Cosmonaut Director Oleg Artemyev.

Also present were Lewis Diamonds & Timepieces owners Slade and Cindy Lewis, Breitling Representative Patrick Cawthorne and Texas State Representative Larry Taylor.

Champagne flowed freely, the store was packed to capacity and spirits were high for this great and amazing celebration!  The Lewis’ sure know how to throw a party 🙂  They recently moved into a new building at Baybrook Passage here in Clear Lake.  Be sure to stop by to see the new store and check out their incredible display of diamonds and watches.  [editor’s note~ Slade Lewis was featured last year in one of my American Heart Association Go Red For Women Hearthrob photo shoots as The Jeweler.]
