The weekend began with a bang… literally! Started Friday night off with James Bond in his latest film, Skyfall. It was non stop action and very much a surprise ending, but I will not spill the beans 🙂
Later in the weekend I took a short drive down to Galveston to have an up close look at the new Pleasure Pier. Sadly this historic pier was previously the site of the Flagship Hotel until Hurricane Ike came swooping into Galveston 4 years ago.
The Texas City Dike was also devastated by Hurricane Ike 4 years ago and looks amazing since the extensive overhaul of the dike and surrounding area. The Texas City Dike sticks out pretty far into Galveston Bay and helps reduce the impact of Gulf waves into the Bay, the ship channel and land. Texas City is known for all of the oil refineries there and I caught one of them outlined by the setting sun.
