Mr. Clancy ~ Smile For A Cure photo shoot | Houston Pet Photographer

Mr. Clancy…  Isn’t he handsome?  Isn’t he sweet?  Clance, as he is known to close friends and family, lives in the hill country just west of Austin.  He spends his days by the dug out pool sitting amongst the sweet-smelling flowers.   He spends his nights frolicking after the fireflies and gazing up at the stars.

Mr. Clancy is helping those pups who can not help themselves.   Smile For A Cure is a pet charity organization dedicated to raising money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation.   For each donation, a local photographer will donate time to photograph your dog.  I am a participating photographer for the Houston area.   To learn more about the reason I volunteer check out this blog about my dog, Douner.

Canine Cancer affects 1 out of every 3 dogs.  Of those affected, over half of them will die of cancer.  The National Canine Cancer is asking for your help to fund important research grants that are working towards improving those statistics.

Through a major project funded by the National Institute of Health, the mapping of the genome sequence of the dog has been completed.  Knowing the mapping of every gene in the dog, gives researchers an advantage not yet achieved in humans.  Canine cancer is most closely related to human cancer, so in helping fund canine cancer research you are also helping fight Cancer in people.  For more info on gene mapping in dogs.

Now for Mr. Clancy’s photo shoot!
