Isn’t she lovely?!…

I had this idea in my head, a ballerina in toe shoes on the beach blended with a Coco Chanel look, but I needed a dancer and one willing to get her toe shoes wet.

I was referred to Lauren by a prior dance teacher of hers.  Lauren is a 2014 Senior and a member (and officer) of the amazing and award-winning Silverado Dance Team from Clear Springs High School.   My goal with Lauren’s shoot was to blend the look of Chanel in with the ballet.  I also knew that I wanted a lot of the images in black and white.  I created a two piece dress for Lauren out of tulle in white and black.  Due to scheduling, I did not have a chance to meet Lauren before her shoot so I just had information from her mother and online photos of her.

We shot on location on a beautiful Sunday afternoon on the banks of Galveston Bay.   Her grandparents were in town and joined her parents at the shoot.   Lauren and I both discovered that ideas well thought out still do not always end up as you imagined or planned.  Hence the toe shoes sinking into the wet sand or how difficult it was to dance on your toes on rocks…  Lauren was a trooper and I got some amazing shots of this beautiful young woman.
