Meet Lanny Bose, former classroom teacher and now entrepreneur, ran for the Texas House District 134 earlier this year. Political campaign photography is a bit tricky in that the images must look real and yet look as professional without looking like portraits. The shoot was done in 2 hours in Houston and turned out to be a rather enjoyable morning teaching everyone how to pose and look very ordinary at the same time.
Bose, a native of Illinois, a Rice graduate with a B.A. and a M.B.A, he is most known as Sammy the Owl during his college years. Bose has been a teacher and a middle school principal, then took all that knowledge and created an app for teachers to talk with parents who have a language barrier. Being in Houston, one of the most diverse cities in the U.S., Bose saw that need and stepped up to figure out how exactly to address one of the many problems facing teachers in today’s ever changing challenges in the urban classroom.
